Why is our digestive health so important?

Who runs the natural Digestive Health Program at Essendon Natural Health?

Our Clinical Naturopaths Madeline Sheppard and Natalie Earles work as part of our Natural digestive support program. Consultations focus on the holistic management of your digestive health taking a thorough case history of your digestive complaint whilst also assessing other areas of your health that may be linked to this including your mental health, optimal function of your digestive organs, infections and any other underlying conditions including diet and lifestyle factors.

They utilise herbal and nutritional medicines, whilst also addressing any dietary and lifestyle modifications that may be necessary to restore your digestive health.

Testing such as IgG food sensitivity testing is performed on site through Food Detective during your consultation. Any further testing such as stool fecal analysis and gut bacterial testing will usually be referred out to a functional pathology lab.

Acupuncture as a supportive treatment?

Our Acupuncturist and Herbalist Lachlan McDonald also works as part of our natural Digestive Support Program. He uses acupuncture and sometimes herbal medicine to aid in supportive a healthy digestive system. Using a traditional Chinese medicine framework for understanding the body can work very well with naturopathy as therapy supports digestive health from a different angle to the naturopaths and therefore can cover more ground.

Acupuncture has natural anti anxiety and calming effects, which can aid in relaxing the nerves in the gut. This can be pivotal in improving digestive health where stress and anxiety may be a major influential factor and can enhance the work your naturopath is doing with you.
