When it comes to this time of year, I notice a significant shift in the type of advice I end up giving. I find myself repeating one of my most treasured sayings to clients, friends, myself (I may have even dropped it at the ENH Christmas party last week!). This saying was bestowed upon me during my studying years by the fantastic Dr. Liza Oates, here it is:
“Everything in moderation. Including moderation.”
In Naturopathy, we honour the cycles of the body and of the world we live in. Summer is traditionally the time to enjoy the fruits of our labour (quite literally for those of us with a veggie garden). Naturopathic wisdom comes from knowing our place in any given cycle and knowing what kind of action (or restraint of action) is appropriate for that phase.
The festive season is one such phase. Good health comes from nourishing our bodies and our souls. Spending time with loved ones, relaxing and letting our hair down, getting out into nature and giving ourselves the space for some self-care are paramount for true wellness.
On that note, happy holidays to everyone, please enjoy this beautiful time of year and I will be available from January 18th with some fantastic new summer detox programs to help those of us who like to ‘nourish our souls’ more than our bodies during the festive season!
Alternatively, if you’re interested in starting a detox program in the New Year, there are some appointments available before our Christmas closing dates so that you are ready to start afresh come to New Year’s Day.
