At Essendon Natural Health, we always focus on the creation of a personalised treatment plan for our patients. No two plans will be the same as we are all different and present with different pathology and symptoms.
You’ve probably had the experience before. You go in with a health concern, you’re handed the same standard advice everyone else gets, and you leave feeling like nobody really looked at you – your history, your lifestyle, your blood work and other pathology, the particular way the problem shows up in your life. For a lot of people, that generic approach simply doesn’t work, and that why people come to our clinic. They are looking for more.
The problem with one-size-fits-all treatment
Generic protocols tend to work from a script. A particular symptom triggers a particular standard response, regardless of who is sitting in the chair. It can be efficient, and for straightforward problems it has its place… the trouble is that health care concerns are rarely that tidy.
When care follows a fixed template, it often manages the symptom in isolation without addressing the root cause of why the symptom is there in the first place. Your sleep, stress, diet, medical history and the demands of your daily life all shape your health, yet a standard protocol rarely has room to account for any of it. The result is a plan that might ease things briefly but doesn’t fit your circumstances, so the underlying issue lingers or returns. A lot of people end up cycling through the same advice, feeling unheard and no closer to feeling well.
What a personalised treatment plan actually looks like
A personalised health plan at our clinic starts from the opposite direction. Instead of reaching for a standard response, our practitioners first take the time to understand you and how you ended up here.
That usually means a thorough look at your health history, your symptoms and how long they’ve been going on, your diet, lifestyle, stress levels, sleep quality, digestion, mood, physical tests such as abdominal palpation, blood work and other pathology results such as imaging. From there, your practitioner builds a plan around your specific situation – one that might combine nutrition, natural medicine, lifestyle changes and other physical therapies such as acupuncture in the mix that suits you, rather than a single off-the-shelf fix.
Take two people who both come in feeling constantly tired. One might be run down from poor sleep and elevated cortisol from chronic stress, the other from an undiagnosed nutrient deficiency such as B12 deficiency. The same generic advice would help one and do very little for the other. A personalised approach digs into which one it is before deciding what to do, so the care actually matches the cause.
Just as importantly, a personalised plan isn’t set in stone. Your health changes, and a good plan changes with it. Your practitioner reviews how you are responding and adjusts along the way, so the care keeps pace with you instead of staying fixed to a template that no longer fits.

Why personalised care is more appropriate for you
When care is built around the individual person, it can address the root cause rather than just quieting the symptom. That matters, because a symptom that keeps coming back is usually a sign that something underneath hasn’t been dealt with.
A personalised approach also tends to be easier to stick with. When a recommendation fits your routine, your preferences and what is realistic for you, you’re far more likely to follow it through – and consistency is often what makes the difference between a plan that works and one that fizzles out. There’s a difference between being treated as a diagnosis and being treated as a person, and people tend to respond better when they feel genuinely understood.
It’s also a more sustainable way to look after your health over the long term. Rather than returning again and again for the same short-term fix, you build an understanding of your own body and what keeps you well, which puts you in a far stronger position year after year.
None of this is about rejecting conventional medicine. It’s about care that considers the whole picture, works alongside your other health professionals, and is shaped by your needs rather than a generic checklist.
How Essendon Natural Health builds a plan around you
A personalised approach has been at the heart of how our practitioners work from the start and is a core principle in natural medicine. Rather than treating a symptom in isolation, our team looks at your health as a whole – the physical, the emotional and the everyday factors that feed into how you feel and then incorporate thorough blood testing and/or gut microbiome testing or imaging to better understand YOU as an individual.
Depending on what you need, your plan might draw on our naturopathy and nutritional medicine care, alongside the broader range of therapies we offer such as acupuncture or myotherapy, all coordinated around your goals. Our practitioners use evidence-based and time-tested natural medicine, and we pride ourselves on integrating care with your GP or specialist so everyone supporting your health is working together.
